I think someone met up with some kind of unpleasantness. I found lots of tiny little feathers all over the road on a walk yesterday.
Materials: feathers, linen cord.

More feather and wings and things to fly with. Plus some stars for good measure.

I've been finding lots of feathers lately. I'm not sure whether it means it's molting season, or maybe that I should take up flying myself....
Materials: found feathers, acrylic cord, silk thread, fresh water pearl.

There's a bumper crop of mockingbirds this summer, they've almost taken over the neighborhood. I love to watch them, there's a lot of personality in that little bird. I've seen mockingbirds successfully take on crows two to three times their size in the air to defend the nest. Incredibly agile fliers when the mood hits, and they don't take any mess, let me tell you. Anyway, this is a tail feather from the mockingbird. A very chic uniform, mostly grey with black and white accents.
Materials: found feather, found plastic, freshwater pearl, acrylic cord, brass wire.

This feather is from my sister's canary Henry. He's not one of those yellow ones, he kind of looks like a mix of finch and falcon. He acts like it too, he's one tough customer. A beautiful singer as well.
Materials: Henry's feather, various cords and threads, glass bead.

The long thin thing here was another mystery pod I found in the street underneath a sycamore tree. I haven't found the source of this pod or another like it so far. Originally it was a bright acid green color, but it's changed dramatically just sitting on my work table....
Materials: mystery pod, found feather, cinnabar bead, rayon ribbons.

Morning dove feathers. Or is it Mourning dove? They certainly have a lovely, sad song. One of my favorite bird calls. I can only hope these are a result of some sudden molting, but I'm afraid I do see some faint teeth marks in one of them.....
Materials: feathers, freshwater pearl, acrylic and silk cords.
