Just so you know, there is no way to do a quick tatting. I thought I would make fast work of this, but no. Maybe I'll improve with practice.
Materials: cotton thread, freshwater pearl, acrylic cord.

Here's today's necklace. I was just thinking about the fragility of things, watching the birds flock to the feeder in this terrible weather. The wind was strong enough to blow the poor little things around the yard yesterday. Hope it settles down soon.
Materials: found tinsel, freshwater pearl, steel wire.
This is actually yesterday's necklace. I couldn't post yesterday on account of a wicked snow/wind storm cutting our power. It's still plenty nasty out so I'm typing with crossed fingers. Hope old man winter just shot the works already for this season.....
Materials: rayon yarn, freshwater pearl, metallic lace.

I've saved bits of practice tatting. They look nice all hitched together, especially with a pretty pink pearl.
Materials cotton thread, freshwater pearl, steel wire, rayon ribbon.

The leaves are changing here, this reminds me of some nice fall colors. I'm really enjoying the tatting as you can see. I'd like to try something more freestyle once I get a better handle on it. I like the idea of making a more deconstructed busted down looking kind of lace.
Materials: cotton tatting thread, freshwater pearl, acrylic cord.

My first foray into doily making. It's a bit on the chunky side, but I did manage to figure out this fan/scallop type stitch that I've wanted to know how to do for a long time now. So I'm pleased about that at least.
Materials: cotton thread, freshwater pearl, copper wire, acrylic cord.

I've been finding lots of feathers lately. I'm not sure whether it means it's molting season, or maybe that I should take up flying myself....
Materials: found feathers, acrylic cord, silk thread, fresh water pearl.

There's a bumper crop of mockingbirds this summer, they've almost taken over the neighborhood. I love to watch them, there's a lot of personality in that little bird. I've seen mockingbirds successfully take on crows two to three times their size in the air to defend the nest. Incredibly agile fliers when the mood hits, and they don't take any mess, let me tell you. Anyway, this is a tail feather from the mockingbird. A very chic uniform, mostly grey with black and white accents.
Materials: found feather, found plastic, freshwater pearl, acrylic cord, brass wire.

just a little bit of lichen today. It looks like it almost has a glow after the rain, the wood and the dirt gets sodden and dark with the damp and that's when the lichen seems to really shine.
Materials: lichen, freshwater pearl, brass wire.

I found this half shell with its mate no where in sight. I'm hoping this means the little bird that came out of it is okay, although you never know with Mother Nature, she can be a real hard ass at times....
Materials: found half shell, freshwater pearl, brass wire, silk and linen cord.

Morning dove feathers. Or is it Mourning dove? They certainly have a lovely, sad song. One of my favorite bird calls. I can only hope these are a result of some sudden molting, but I'm afraid I do see some faint teeth marks in one of them.....
Materials: feathers, freshwater pearl, acrylic and silk cords.

I found a funny ball on one of my walks. There are little relief pictures of musical notes and a helicopter on it along with three tiny holes that must be there for a reason, but I can't figure out what that might be. I've paired it with one of my old rope experiments.
Materials: cotton/rayon handmade rope with freshwater pearls, found plastic ball.

Some handmade rope from a few years back. I was experimenting with mixing in beads so those little shiny things you see are little freshwater pearls.
Materials: sycamore branch painted, silk/cotton threads, recycled sari yarn, freshwater pearl, acrylic cord.
