Some junk drawer treasure. Makes me wonder why we save and hold on to and make space for the things we do..
Materials: mystery metal bits, acrylic cord, rayon ribbon.

A little tribute to Vivienne Westwood. You gotta love a woman who runs a business in couture and writes a manifesto on D.I.Y. fashion all at the same time. Anyway, having been a teenager in the eighties, I can remember how entire outfits depended on these little gems. There was a lot more personal creativity in fashion back then, it wasn't as much about labels and "it" bags.

A man used to sit on the street in Chinatown and Midtown sometimes and make little animals and people out of straw. I bought this little butterfly from him. Right now in Asheville there is some sort of butterfly convention going on...I've never seen so many different kinds. I love how they just kind of bounce around in the air, yet manage to migrate up and down the Americas.
Materials: straw butterfly, rayon chenille yarn, acrylic cord.

I found these elegant dried weeds leaning out by the side of the road. I love how they look like this delicate, sepia toned line drawing. Once again, nature is the best designer....
Materials: mystery weeds, reused silk and linen threads.

This feather is from my sister's canary Henry. He's not one of those yellow ones, he kind of looks like a mix of finch and falcon. He acts like it too, he's one tough customer. A beautiful singer as well.
Materials: Henry's feather, various cords and threads, glass bead.

A saw blade that's been hanging about the front walk for a while. I seem to be having a challenge with my scroll saw, I might have used my economy class model beyond its means. You do get what you pay for.
Materials: found saw blade, brass wire, acrylic cord.

Things I found on a walk to a lecture yesterday. I'm liking circles a lot lately, there's something so sweet and simple about them.....
Materials: found buttons and metal pop top, linen cord.
