It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a recycled Superman cup! I'm glad this is no longer in service, I got a seriously plastic smell on my hands hitching this up... Materials: found plastic shards, cotton cord, felted wool ball.
I love the politeness and respect that you give these dirty filthy remnants of faded glory pop icons! the idea that this cup ever intended to provide a personal service to you is very dignified on your part! But, maybe these objects DO have a life of their own after all........and demand our respect. As I write this, a robot (with overwhelming MUSAK is saying to me: "thanks for calling southwest airlines.......etc.. we apologize for the inconvenience".......but maybe her really means it too!
Thanks! What I was thinking about when I found those shards in the street was a story about a Bower bird who decorated his nest/shrine exclusively with blue ballpoint pen caps to stunning effect. That crappy plastic blue sure does stand out....
This is my attempt, (and it will either kill me or cure me!) to step away from my commercial training in costume jewelry. To develop a way of creating that is more of a meditation, a practice. One necklace, every day for a year.
