A resolution to a mixed media rope I made a few years ago. Closure can be one of the hardest and easiest things in making jewelry. I guess it all depends on what you want and how easily you're pleased. I turned the toggle out of mesquite that was meant for the grill. Materials: sari silk, linen cord, coral beads, hand turned wood.
I love the colors--they remind me of the bright house colors on the Caribbean islands. And as a wearer of your necklaces, I have to say that you do a great job with closures. I'm never fumbling to fix the clasp on one of your necklaces like I am with so many others. Also, you always make the clasp a part of the decoration of the necklace, which really adds personality to each piece.
This is my attempt, (and it will either kill me or cure me!) to step away from my commercial training in costume jewelry. To develop a way of creating that is more of a meditation, a practice. One necklace, every day for a year.
