These papery looking flowers vine and grow around in the privet hedge. I always thought they were pretty but with a hard funereal edge. I love the color. This spring is bringing a deep understanding of the Hawaiian tradition of using flowers for accessories. They really are quite a precious material..
Materials: found flowers, rayon ribbon.

this seems very "Joan Crawford" during her middle aged period before she became a drag queen in horror films. Yesterday I saw "The Women" again, a film I never tire of. It's great to see a slew of fantastic women wearing food and strange animals on their heads.
ReplyDeletethe wheelchair person asked me to spell the word:
ReplyDelete"VIONTI" on this previous comment I just put through to verify me as an existing human being, I think...........
It's a nice name for this necklace as well....and I can hear Joan Crawford say "Vionti" for her name as well when she was 42 years old.......
"The Women"....Joan's a real so and so in that one! You should see this necklace as it dries out, it's turning into a real Edward Gorey special...
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are called Sweet Betsy (or at least that's what my friend Janet told me). They smell a little like bubblegum to me. This is a necklace to go a-Maying with . . .

Thanks for that! I was wondering what those were called, I've never seen them in the north. That would make a good exclamation...Leapin' lizards! Sweet Betsy!
