My sister found the skeleton of an entire deer on her trip to the swamp. Here's a little vertebra. A real Georgia O'Keefe special.

Kid's stuff. The pipe cleaner looked to be some kind of bracelet in its former life. The little Lego man I found in pieces in a parking lot. Never found his left hand, but I did find a place for him in necklace land.

Treasure from the streets. I found this rock with a big chunk of mica in it, shiny things....I was wondering how to attach it to a chain and then I remembered that most of the world is held together with rubber bands, paper clips, duct and scotch tape, so why not rubber bands? They're pretty anyway. the chain had a bunch of springs attached to it, maybe it was a part of some kind of cot in a former life. I love the clamp thing on it, it makes an elegant clasp.

In order to keep up with this project, I've gotten into the habit of putting the necklace together first thing when I wake up, around 6:00am. Sometimes I can see I've made some pretty sleepy, unmindful things when I finally join the land of the fully awake. That's okay. Today I found a practice knot I did a while back, it's called the Monkey's Fist if you're into the old sailor culture. The wood is me learning on the lathe with some sycamore I believe.....

Yes, you can find zen in a parking lot in case you were wondering. That's were I found this slip of paper with a few Buddhist type maxims written on it. It was soaking wet with the rain, so I carried it home held between my fingers and let the wind dry it on the way. That's where I got the notion to make a kind of prayer flag thing with it.
