Very cold and restless night. It was one of those where the wind was howling all night up and down the mountain. Makes you feel very small and fortunate to be inside. I wanted to make something to reflect sleeplessness and the fragility that comes with it. Right there in my studio was an old shawl, has to be from the turn of the last century. A beautiful ochre color with intense metal wire embroidery on it, only the silk is so old and dry, it literally shreds and flakes apart in your hands. That's about right.
Materials: Silk shawl, rayon ribbon, nylon cord
